When talking about gas fire suppression systems, we normally know of the HFC-227ea system this system is very famous and popular all over the world, this article is to discuss how the design quantity of the HFC-227ea fire suppression agent is calculated.
Hereby below we have several steps to calculate how the hfc-227ea fire suppression system is calculated for use:
Step One: Calculate the net volume of the protection zone (hazards), normally in units of cubic meters.
Steps Two: According to your project type to confirm the Design Application Density (C1 in %), normally:
1. Library, Museum, Archive, and similar places, for these protection zones or hazards, its design application density is 10%.
2. Transformer room, Power distribution room, Generator room, and similar places, for these protection zones or hazards, its design application density is 9%.
3. Telecommunication room, Computer room, Server room, and similar places, for these similar protection zones or hazards, its design application is 8%.
Remark: The above design application density is according to the “Prescriptive Fire Protection Design Code, P.R.C-GB50370-2005”, and may not be suitable for some European Countries and the American area.
Step Three, Know the minimum temperature in the protection zone (hazards), to calculate a specific volume factor (“S” in cubic meter per kilogram) under air pressure of 101Kpa and minimum environment temperature.
S=0.1269+0.000513T
Step Four, Find out the Altitude Correction Factor (K) in your area, The “K” value can be as per the attached list of GB50370-2005.
Remark: “Altitude Height” is “Height Above sea level”.
Step Five, the Calculation Formula is as follows:
For Example:
one archive room is 11.5 meters in length, 9 meters in width, and 3 meters in height, the minimum environment temperature is 20℃, the Altitude height is no more than 500 meters, we use a cabinet type non-piping HFC-227ea (fm200) fire suppression device as a total flooding system for solution, please calculate the quantity of the hfc-227ea fire extinguishing agent.
Answer:
1. Net Volume V=11.5*9*3=310.5 cubic meters.
2. Design Application Density C1=10.
3. As Per the attached list, altitude correction factor K=0.
4. Specific Volume Factor is S=0.1269+0.000513T=0.13716.
5. The Design Quantity of the HFC-227ea fire suppression agent is:
COMES TO ABOUT 251.60 Kilograms.
